Problem
The ESP lamp is on and the error code  "01826 sender for steering angle G 85 - power supply terminal 30" is one of the entries.

Technical background
1. Brief disruption of the power supply, e.g. through a disconnected battery. The steering angle sensor needs a permanent connection with terminal 30 for saving the zero adjustment. If this connection is disrupted, the steering angle sensor loses its zero adjustment and the above entry is made.
2. Steering angle sensor G 85 incorrect.
3. Steering column module J 527 incorrect.

Production change
1. No complaint on the vehicle, construction related.
2. Improved steering angle sensor from 11.05
3. Improved steering column module from 03.02

Resolution
1. Briefly drive the vehicle, so that it can learn the zero adjustment. The ESP lamp will then go out again. The entry becomes sporadic and deletes itself later.
Alternatively, the adjustment can be performed with the diagnostic tester.

2. and 3. If the adjustment cannot be performed or the complaint recurs after the adjustment is made, there is a complaint. Carry out an electric check according to the guided fault finding of the diagnostic tester. If a parts replacement is needed, it is not possible any more to distinguish with workshop means whether the steering angle sensor G85 or the steering column module J 527 cause the complaint.
