Engine does not start at the first attempt

Issue

Immobiliser active at first start attempt, only on vehicles with Keyless Entry.

Technical background

On vehicles with Keyless Entry (PR No. 4F2/4K5/4K6/4K7) the engine does not start at the first attempt because the immobiliser is active. The driving mode display in the driver information system is red (inverted) and sometimes SAFE is shown in the trip mileage recorder. The fault entries engine control unit locked or gearbox control unit locked are logged in the engine and gearbox control unit. The engine starts at the second attempt.

After the engine start the fault entries are marked as sporadic.

Production change

Modified driver authorisation control unit (for Keyless Entry) and optimised software 0050 in the gearbox control unit from 05.06 chassis number:

4E 6N 025128

Solution

Replace the driver authorisation control unit and update the gearbox control unit with software version management (SVM) with the following action codes (SVM) to version 0050 or higher. SVM code: 4E02A002.

The Parts Department only supplies optimised driving authorisation control unit.

Both measures must be carried out.
