Problem

If the ignition is switched off while the dipped beam is still on, the side lights automatically come on. If the vehicle is locked without turning the light switch to position 0 (lights off), the time on the clock changes after 1.5 to 2 hours.
Technical background
Software complaint in the dash insert caused by the absence of the parking light warning in the dash insert from the week 45/04 in the  A8.
The situation only occurs on vehicles with a normal clock - not a radio-controlled clock (Pr. No. U1A) - and the use of the side lights on parked vehicles.

Resolution
On model year 2005 vehicles produced from week 45/04 to week 22/05 and with the software data version 0200 or 0210 the complaint can be fixed with a change of the dash insert code.

Change the code via the vehicle self-diagnosis:

Use VCDS

[17 - Instrument Cluster ]

Change the existing code XXXX3 to XXXX8.
Example: Code 16043 must be changed to 16048.

For model year 2006 vehicles produced from week 12/05 and with the software data version 0400 or 0410:
You need to update to software version 0420 (or higher) via the software version management (SVM) in the guided fault finding - SVM code 4E17A001. The software 0420 is also available on an Update CD - Part No. 4F0 906 961 N.
