Before to describe mounting operations I have to point that I had "to study" the Audi Wiring Diagrams and the mounting locations in Elsa,Etka and Ebahn so it was essential to have this kind of supports. Anyway also having these I had some problems to discover the right wiring harness to do and I have to thank some Forum Members like PaulH and JOHN.KUSTARD that tried to help me for the right interpretation of Audi-diagrams. But a special thank must go to my friend Emil alias R8. He solved my main problem about the harness going to see in his garage how was cabled the Radar-Sensor in an A8 and for supporting me on the more desperate days.
Anyway all my problems during this retrofit were caused by a faulty Radar responsible of my doubts on the connections until R8 confirmed me that the Radar harness used only 4 wires: Positive/negative and CAN H/CAN-L very simple but following the here enclosed wiring diagram it seemed more complex:

INSTALL OPERATIONS:

OUTSIDE THE CAR
First of all I had to install the Radar-sensor in his specific location behind the front bumper where the arranged holes on the reinforcement bar fortunately was existant.
As the front grill had to be replaced the entire bumber cover had to be removed and it was necessary to pass the cables from the radar up inside of car. This was made under the left wheel housing liner following the same way of main harness which arrives under the Instruments driver side.

INSIDE THE CAR
The Gateway was already fitted because I had to change it for the Back-up Camera Retrofit (there is a TdiAvant useful guide in this Forum which describes how to replace it) so "only" the Instrument Panel and the Switch for ADR had to be mounted.
Having to change the switch on the steering column the Airbag, the Steering wheel, the SC/ring must be removed so done that the instrument panel can be easily removed.
After the SC/ ring is mounted it's important to make a STEERING-ANGLE SENSOR CALIBRATION with the help of VCDS and the code to activate ACC has to be inserted in 01-Engine. This was another of my problems because after the first install I forgot to properly do this important operation so my ECU didn't accept any Login to activate the ADR.
When you turn on ignition you will encounter the first problem: COMPONENT PROTECTION ACTIVE in Cluster and Gateway and as we know the Dealer is needed to remove it.
Mine wasn't so happy to authorize my new cluster and asked me an invoice to proove that my Cluster was not stolen!! Fortunately my supplier Darek70 is serious and sold me some" clear" parts with regular invoice.
Here VCDS coding for all the components involved in retrofit:

CONTROLLER 01 Engine LOGIN II code 16167 to deactivate GRA and code 13647 to activate ACC.

CONTROLLER 07 HU must be adapted to support ACC with VCDS in adaptation CH01 added +00001

CONTROLLER 13 Autodistance Radar sensor controller has to be coded following this label:
Position 1: Engine coding
1XXXX: 8-cylinder (4.2-litre petrol engine and 4.0-litre TDI engine and 4.2-litre TDI and 4.2-litre FSI)
2XXXX: 8-cylinder (3.7 litre petrol)
3XXXX: 6-cylinder MPI (3.0 litre with Multitronic gearbox "01J") and 6-cylinder TDI (3.0 litre with 6-speed gearbox "09L") and 6-cylinder FSI (3.2 litre with Multitronic gearbox "01J") and 6-cylinder FSI (2.8 litre AVS with Multitronic gearbox "01J")
4XXXX: 12-cylinder 6.0 litre petrol engine and 10-cylinder FSI 5.2 litre petrol engine
Position 2: Country coding 1
A 1 is always entered at this position
Position 3: Body coding
XX1XX: Standard body
XX2XX: Stretched body
Note on position 3:
This coding adapts the vehicle mass and wheelbase accordingly.
Position 4: Country coding 2
XXX1X: USA (mph)
XXX2X: Canada (km/h)
XXX3X: ----------------------------
XXX4X: Japan
XXX5X: RoW (mph) (RoW = Rest of the World)
XXX6X: RoW (km/h)
Position 5: Optional extras (added together)
XXXX1: Vehicle with trailer hitch and/or Rear Seat Entertainment system fitted- If one or both of the systems is/are fitted, the adaption value is always 1!!
XXXX4: Vehicle with one-touch memory
XXXX8: Without optional extras
If no optional extras are coded, the coding value 8 is entered

CONTROLLER 16 STEERING WHEEL has to be coded
0xxxx?x: Board Computer / Cruise Control System (CCS) / Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
0 = No Board Computer - No Cruise Control System (CCS) - No Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
1 = with Board Computer
2 = with Cruise Control System (CCS)
3 = with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
4 = with Board Computer and Cruise Control System (CCS)
5 = with Board Computer and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

CONTROLLER 19 CAN GATEWAY has to be coded activating the Distance Regulation using Long Coding or checking the new option in Gateway Installation List and saving it.
